A FALSE REPORT.

In reference to a telegram in our issue of last evening, the attention of our readers is directed to the following from the “Lyttelton Times’’ of this morning :— Yesterday it was currently reported that the Rev. J. Gumming, the respected Inspector of Schools, had died in the morning. We are happy to be able to state that so far from the rumour being true, Mr Gumming was actually engaged inspecting the East Christchurch school yesterday, and is now much better in health than he has been for some time.
