The Transit of VenusKumaiia, Dec. 7. The transit of Venus was observed here this morning. The clouds obscured the sun till 6.45 a m., and occasional glimpses of the planet was seen until 7.20. The internal and external contacts at egress were obscured by dense clouds. Committed on a Charge of Arson, Chhistchubch, Dec. 7. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day, Eobert Ewing was committed for trial on a charge of attempted arson i It appears he quarrelled with his wife, and then piling all the furniture in a heap set fire to it, but the neighbors extinguished the flames before the house was much damaged.
