SALE OF PASTORAL LEASES OF CROWN LANDS. PRELIMINARY NOTICE. General Crown Lands Office, Wellington, 20th Sept., 1882. ONE million seven hundred and fifty thousand acres of Crown Lands will shortly be open for Pastoral Lease in the Provincial District of Otago, New Zealand, This country is at present held under lease in forly-six runs until the Ist March 1884, and will again be offered in runs suitable to the nature of the country ; but qo lessee will be allowed to take up more than will carry twenty thousand sheep or four thousand head of cattle. The leases will be for a term of years to be hereafter determined ; but in no case will any lease be for a period exceeding ;wenty-one years. Compensation for improvement up to ; hree years’ rental will be allowed at the md of the lease. In order to give new pastoral lessees tune o make arrangements, the licenses will, in erma of the Land Acts, be sold fay public motion, at the Land Office, Dunedin, in ;he latter end of February, 1883,12 months Defore possession is to be given. One pear's rent will be payable in advance on ihe license at i he time of sale. The country has been occupied for upvards of 20 years.' It is well grassed, well vatered, sound, and healthy. Distance from port by good roads and ail ways part of the way, from thirty to me hundred and fifty miles. And on the 20th December, there will e offered by public auction, at Patea, ten jetions of Forfeited Deferred-Payment the unsold portion of the Townhip of Richardson, and 19,235 acres of lural Bush Land, for cash, at upset prices, angiug from £1 to £6 per acre. On the '2lst December, 4,537 acres of Agricultural. Deferred-Payment Land, icing portion of the Wanganui Harbor loard Endowment, near Feilding and the lokomaru Block, n«ar Wan 'anui,- will be .pen for application, at Wanganui and Vellington, at prices ranging from £l 10s ier acre upwards.
