TIMAEU-TIIIS DAT. (Before T. W. Hall end H. Belfield, Eup’s) DEUNKENNESH. A first offender, whose countenance was very much disfigured by a fall, was charged with drunkenness. He was discharged with a caution. EALSE I’HETENCES. John Johnstone was charged with obtaining on October 7, a promissory note from Archibald Graham, of the value of £l5O, with intent to defraud. Mr Haarersley, who appeared for the prosecution, applied for a remand until Friday. The accused, having only last night returned to Tirnaru, had not been able to fully instruct counsel in the matter. The case was accordingly remanded, bail being fixed at two sureties of £l5O each, uud accused in £IOO. DEI VINO WITHOUT EEINB. J. Pearson was charged with driving a horse without reins on the Wai-iti road. He pleaded not guilty. The following evidence was taken : Constable McKinnon said he met the aoousod driving a dray and two horses
without reins, on the ISfcli inst. He had been catuioncd about the matter before.
Accused said ho had reins on the shaft horse, but none on (he leader. He was fined -us and costs. LEAVING VEHICLE UNATTENDED,
Thomas Newton was charged with leaving his express unattended. Ho pleaded not-guilty. Inspector Broham said the constable who witnessed the offence had since been sent to Christchurch on duty ; and asked for a remand till Friday. The remand was granted. CATTLE WANDERING AT LARGE.
B. Cole was charged with allowing <t head of cattle to wander on the Wai-ili road.
He pleaded guilty, but said the cattle had got out and this was his first offence. He was fined 10s and costs.
