Dear Sir,— l am directed by the Committee of Judging and Awards to acknowledge your letter of the 16th inst., and to inform you that when the Davis’ Sewing Machine Company’s protest was investigated by the Committee, it was decided to refer the matter back to the Jurors of Section VII., asking whether they would kindly reconsider their decision and inform them (the ; Committee) at an early opportunity whether their decision given—of a First Order of Merit, Silver Medal could be altered to a recommendation of certificate of Gold Medal, the reply was that, after due consideration, they could see no reason for altering the award 'lbis decision was final, and accepted by_ the Committee, Messrs Fiske and Co. being advised of the result, consequently the advertisement you refer to is NOT OFFICIAL.
