Chillier.-, Secretary of State for War, has gone on the Continent on a trip for the benefit of his health, which has become seriously impaired through overwork. The Duke of Edinburgh 111H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh is at present suffering from a severe attack of bronchitis. ProcedureThe debate in the House of Commons on Mr Gladstone’s proposed new rules in reference to the business of the House has been rapidly proceeded with at recent sittings. Daring the past week seven more of the Premier’s resolutions have been passed, and all rules affecting procedure have now been dealt with. Three final resolutions affecting the Standing Committe alone remain to be discussed.

Consols remain at 102£. The markets for colonial breadstuffs and tallow are unchanged. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 2,170,000 quarters, an increase of 5000 during the week.

At to-day’s wool sales 10,000 bales were offered. Medium and inferior wool generally is in request at reduced prices. Good quality is firm.
