S. C. Times Office, Saturday Evening. Messrs R. Wilkin and Co., report for the week ended Friday November 24, as follows Horses—Although there are a great number offering, the demand’ being limi'ed, very little business is done. To effect sales low prices have to be accepted. They quote good draughts at from to £35 ; medium, £lB to £23 ; hacks, from £l2 to £l6; light, £5 to £B. Cattle-Prime beef may be quoted at 25s to 27s 6d, medium 22s 6d pur 1001 b. Beef daring the week has suffered a decline ; this no doubt is caused by the fact that most of our local butchers have supplied themselves privately. At Washdyke yards on Monday there was a full entry of both fat and stores. Their principal sales were 19 head steeers at £6, 3 heifers at £5, 3 do at £5 10s, 3 light weight steers at £5 17s 6d. Stores-At commencement of the sale bidding was slack but towards its close a decided improvement took place, resulting, in a fair amount of business being done. ' Good conditioned, well-grown steers commanded most attention. At Makikihi on Tuesday last there were over 150 head yarded, and most of the lots changed hands at verv satisfactory prices. At the Pleasant Point monthly sale yesterday there was only a small entry of stock. The attendance was not large, consequently little or no business was done. They sold one line of good yearlings at £2 10s. Sheep.—Prime mutton is in good ’supply. They quote Ifd pet lb for shorn, very few offering in the wool. At Washdyke yards on Monday last there was a full supply of stores, with a limited demand, especially lor shorn. Ewes with lambs at foot seemed to be the order of theday ; all that oume forward found purchasers at good rates. At Makikihi on Tuesday last merino ewes (in the wool) with lambs at foot brought from 7s to 7s 6d ; shorn do do, 6s 9d.
