James Munro, a shepherd from the Mackenzie Country, was charged with drunkenness, He admitted the offence, but pleaded that he had been for months past living alone and without a taste of grog, and the novelty of being in town made the drink take more effect on him. He was fined 10s. Henry Pearson was charged with drunkenness. The case was dismissed. INDECENT EXPOSURE. The same accused was also charged with indecent exposure. John Davidson testified to witnessing the offence at the bar door of the Ship Hotel. Keruch, a cook, corroborated the evidence of last witness. Accused was sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment. ■ STEALING A WATCH. O. Cotopai, a Maori, was charged with stealing a watch. He was remanded till Tuesday. THREATENING LANGUAGE. James Quinlan was charged with using threatening language. Mr Hamers ley appeared for the accused, who pleaded guilty, under great provocation. Sergeant Cullen said last evening, on the Sports’ ground, ho had observed the accused in a very excited state, with a knife in his hand—threatening someone. There were several men trying to take the knife away. Accused was greatly under the influence of liquor. His Worship decided that the affair arose out of a drunken squabble, and fined accused 10s.
