Messrs Maclean and ;Stewart report for the past week, as follows Horses.—Forty-three draughts and hackneys were received at their; yards on Saturday for sale. The’deniand for stores was remarkably quiet, and Mere sal es were effected, Owners had‘to submit to small values, buyers' nob .feeling inclined to operate on account of the bad prospects of feed at the time ; but the much-desired change in the weather, which set in on Saturday, will doubtless give an impetus to stock business generally, and better prices than those ruling lately may be looked for now. They sold yearlings at from 295, to 83s; cows, £2 10s to £*> 2s 6d.. They sold two pens of fat cattle privately. On Saturday they sold privately 95 head mixed cattle at a satisfactory price. Sheep. They have no sale of importance to notel 1 At Winchester they offered several lots, but only disposed of a small lot of shorn cross-breds at 8s 9d. Wool and Skins,—At their fortnightly sale on Wednesday, they catalogued about 1200 skins, and' a few bales and bags of wool, all of which was disposed of at prices a shade easier than late rates. They sold .butchers’ heavy .cross-breds at 6s to 6s 6d ; medium, 6s to 6s lOd; merinos ,6s,to 5s 3d for best;skins, and, medium 2s lOd to 4s 3d; 3 bales cross-bred wopl at 8d; 1 bale mixed 6d; bags frouqL 6d,to 7jd per lb. Fat—A few bags rough fat sold at 2£ to , 2sd per jb.,, , , , Messrs William. Collins and Co, report' a good attendance at tbeir regular weekly sale on Saturday. Owing to the boisterous weather prevailing, the entries of produce .were below.; the demand, consequently all lines submitted brought extreme figures, asthe following will show:—Bggs, - Is iief doz ; butter, Id per lb; potatoes, 8s to 10s per sack; bams, 8d per lb ; bacon, 7d ; flour, farmers’, 16s per sack ; fowl wheat, 10s to 12s per sack;, fowls, 2s 6d per pair. Groceries, house-' hold furniture, carpenters’ tools, a quantity of ironmongery, and sundries were largely bought up, Messrs Southan and Stubbs report for , their weekly market and auction' on Saturday as follows There was a fair attendance, but the entries in consequence of the downpour of rain, were'but few, and not much business done, farmers being, prevented from bringing their’ ..lines to market. For potatoes ■ there is still an excellent market,; the supply being now very small, and all obtainable are readily bought up at from £3 to £4 pe:r ton. Early potatoes, though enquired for are . not to be obtained. Fifty tons placed were during the week, ,eatmg potatoes, fetched £3 10s to £4 per ton. .Oats, good feed, sold up to 3s 3d per bushel; crushed barley, 10a per sack ; barley, .seconds sample, 2s per bushel; none; bacon, 4d to 7d per lb; farmers’ pork, 3Jd per lb. Some few lines of sundries brought fair prices.
