[Received Oct. 25, 1882, noon.] COMMERCIAL. London, Oct. 24. Consols advanced £ to 101 f-. The market rate of discount bus been reduced by £ and is now at 36'8 per cent. The Bank rate remains at 6 per cent. New Zealand securities are firm at last quotations. Colonial breadstufEa continue quiet but firm at the following prices :—Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, 49s ; New Zea-
land, ditto, 43s to 46s ; Adelaide flour ex warehouse, 345. ‘ Australian tallow—Best beef, 43s fid ; best mutton, 465. The London Chartered Bank of Australasia has declared a d.iyidend of 3 per cent for the past half year, and carried forward £SOOO to the reserve fund. STORM AND FLOODS. > A severe storm has been experienced thoughout England. Heavy floods have resulted therefrom, and have prov ed most disastrous in many > places, much destruction of property having occurred. PARLIAMENTARY. In the House of Commons to-day, Mr Gladstone, in introducing his motion for the reform of the Hou«e, announced that he was determined to adhere to the first rule to be proposed, viz., that empowering, thh Speaker to put the question forthwith, but he was willing to agree to some modification of the other rules. ILLNESS OF THE BEY. Paeis, Oct. 24. Intelligence is to hand from Tunis that the Bey is seriously ill, and no hope is entertained of his recovery.
