With reference to the vacant portfolio, it has transpired that Mr E. G. Wright was offered, a sent in the Cabinet;' with the portfolio of Post master General, but although he was quite willing to join the Government ho would not accept any other ?ortf olio than that of Minister of üblic Works, as being the one his services, owing to his previous training, would be most effective in. Mi* Wright, would have taken the Minister of Works portfolio had it been vacant. Mr Wright;, it is understood, leaves ;for Christchurch this afternoon, ,
