The following is the latest betting on the Melbourne Cup 100 to 12 against Cunnamulla, 100 to 8 against Sweet William, 100 to 6 against Sting, 100 to 4 against The Drummer, The Gem, Hereford, Bey, Navigator, Silvanus, or Balmoral.

The Provincial Bishops have selected the names of the Bight Bev. Ward Parry, Bishop Suffragan of Dover, and the Bev, Bichard Appleton, a Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, for recommendation for the vacant Bishop* rio of Sydney and the Primacy of Australia. Canon Fleming, of York, whose name was selected by the Diocesan Synod, is no longer a candidate for the office. Tha contest for the Punch rowing trophies was continued to-day. The results of the various heats leave Trickett, Bush, Layopok, and Beach in for the final races, which come off on Saturday next. In the Legislative Assembly to-day a division was taken upon the Warrego Bail way Bill, and resulted in a majority of two for the Government.
