ACCIDENT AT WINCHESTER.
Mr W. Leishman, of Kakahu, yesterday met with a serious accident at the Winchester station. He was getting out of the evening train on its arrival, before it stopped, and in doing so he fell between it and the platform. He was literally ground by the train, while it continued to move some yards on. The engine was reversed with all possible speed, or Mr Leishman would undoubtedly have been completely mangled. He was conveyed to the Winchester Hotel. Dr Hayes examined the sufferer, after administering chloroform, as he suffered excruciating agony. He was found to have had his hip dislocated, and to nave sustained terrible bruises. We learn to-day, however, that be is out of danger, and doing as well as could be expected.
