In thanking our Friends and the Public of South Canterbury for the very liberal support accorded to us since we commenced business four years ago, we would respectfully intimate the arrival of NEW AND VALUABLE MACHINERY for the manufacture of all classes of Ready-made Boots, and which has been placed in a recently built brick addition at the back of our Shop Premises. _ The growing success of the READYMADE BRANCH of our business has necessitated thia'outlay of capital, and it being the FIRST INDUSTRY of .the kind attempted in South Canterbury, we hope the support, vybich will be derived therefrom will prove a financial ’success. The large quantities of Factory Made Boots forwarded from Christchurch, Dunedin, and other large centres of population has for some time past attracted our attention, and the many thousands of pounds sent out of the District to these places for Boots and Shoes would, we feel sure, be more advantageous to the District if the labour was employed here.
