A child of a Mr Irving, Washdyke, aged 3 months, was found dead in bed this morning* An inquest will be held at the Doncaster Hotel, Washdyke, to-morrow at 11 o’clock.
The first meeting of the newly formed Literary Club in connection with St. John’s Masonic Lodge will take place this evening. The members of St. John's Lodge, the Mark Masters’ Lodge, and St. John’s Royal Arch Chapter are invited to attend. At the R.M. Court to-day before H, J. LeCren Esq., Thomas Williams, an old offender, was fined £3, in default 7 days imprisonment, for drunkenness. In the Honse to-day, Major Atkinson said that an arrangement had been come to between Rhodes’ executors and the Government whereby a fair amount of duty would be paid, therefore he nnved the discharge of the Rhodes' Estate Bill with a view pf introducing an amended Bill in conformity with the arrangement.
