THIS DAY. The weather has been better than the most sanguine sportsman had expected, and the proceedings were highly suecessful throughout. The ground selected was a magnificent piece of undu- , fating land to the rear of the blue gums plantation. The attendance was limited, being almost confined te persons officially or otherwise connected with the meeting. The coursing throughout Was splendid, and probably no one ever saw a finer course run, than the deciding one of the Cop, which was won by Bonnie Scotland, who, though very lame, and matched against a- grand opponent, scored a glorious victory. Mr Stewart), were heartily given for Mr Orbell, the manager of the; Levels • Estate, the Chib considering them- ; selves much indebted to that gentleman for his kindness in allowing the Club to hold their meetings on the estate. In reply Mr Orbell expressed his gratification at the excellent sport and said he should at all times do what he could to forward the interests of the South Canterbury Coursing. Club. The whole company then, forming a very respectable cavalcade, turned homewards after having wit-, nessed the finest coursing ever seen in the district.
