timaeu-this.;day. (Before J. Beswick, Esq., E.M.) ASSAULT, Charles McMahon was summoned on a charge of assaulting Edward Hughes Elliott at Makikihi, on July. 17. He did not appear and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was arrested and brought up later in the day. He pleaded guilty tp the charge. The prosecutor stated that the prisoner had not only assaulted him, but he had destroyed some of his property to the value of 16s. His Worship ordered accused to pay a fine of 40s; also the amount? of damage, 15s; or be imprisoned for seven days, with hard labor. Prisoner accepted the alternative, and went to gaol. civil cases. Judgment was entered for the plaintiff in the following casesW. Shephard v. H. A. Reade, claim £3 ; George Rrown v. John Heal, claim £1 4s; James Bruce v. James Chapman, claim £ll 11s 3d. In the case Margaret McKenzie (Mr Hamersley) v. W. A. Murry, claim £4l 6. Judgment was entered for the plaintiff for £l6 5s and .costs. The oases J. Fraser v. W. A. Hobbs, claim 18s; Evans, Grandi and Dooley v. John Mundell, claim £6 2s 3d; Maclean and Stewart v. E. and W. Hughes claim £6O 14s; and H. Green v. E. Armit were adjourned. | >
