At the inquest yesterday on the body of Campbell, who shot himself through the head on Saturday, a verdict was returned that deceased shot himself during a fit of temporary insanity. Welcoming Titokowaru* Wellington, July 19. The “ Evening Post’s ” Normaaby correspondent telegraphs thatTitokowarn was heartily welcomed on his return to his pah at Okaiawa yesterday. Abont 20 ’ Europeans and 200 Natives were , present at a feast of pigs and lampreys. Titokowaru appeared greatly pleased at ' the visit of Europeans. He said they would see that the gathering had no political significance. Mr DeLautour’s Application Res fused. At th'b Supreme Court in Banco this morning His Honor refused the application of Mr DeLautour to be admitted as a Barrister of Supreme Courts. The Heathcote School Scandal. Christchurch, July 19. The Lower Heathcote School Enquiry terminated at noon to-day and Hr Giles intimated that he would send in his report to the Government, and no doubt the Board of Education would learn the result in due time.The Rev* G- WilkesThe Rev. G. Wilkes, late Head Master at the Lower Heathcote School, leaves to-morrow, having been appointed to a ■chool in the Wanganui district. Supreme Court* Dunedin, July 19. Judge Williams in his charge to the Grand Jury to-day referred to the cases on the calendar as being only of an ordinary character, _ Philip Waldeman, convicted lost session of arson, at Queenstown, whose case was reserved for the Appeal Court, was sentenced to seven years penal servitude. Thomas Hbdgetts pleaded guilty to a charge of larceny and was sentenced to two years imprisonment. ‘ Fire at KensingtonThree wooden houses in Grosvenor street, Kensington, were burned down last night. The fire broke out in the store of S. McWbinny, containing seven rooms ; and, fanned by a fresh breeze, it spread rapidly. The shop of R. Ray, butcher, and the dwelling of J. Sutton were also destroyed. Ray’s premises were insured in the Standard office for £IOO. Sutton is uninsured. Mrs Brown, whose furniture is greatly damaged by removal, is insured in the Standard for £2OO. Two Men Found DeadInvercargill, July 19. A colored man named Harry Davis, cook to a survey party near Orepuki, has been found dead in the bush. He is supposed to have died from heart disease. ’ . The police have just received information that William Clinn, who went out shooting at Waiao on Sunday with three other men, has been found dead, having evidently been killed by the discharge from his own gun, after straying from His mates.
