The dissatisfaction in the Christchurch Police Force,, and other causes, have produced so||jany resignations and dismissals lately, that there are only six old hands left in the Force. A Prisoner from the Chatham IslandsLyttelton, July 5. The Omaha, brigantine, arrived from the Chatham Islands this morning. She brings a Native prisoner, Tapeni Arawhiti, whd has been committed for trial on a charge of attempted rape on a Native girl, eleven years old. Relieved from Its Suffering, ■Dunedin. July 11. Captain Kitchener’s baby died this morning.
