Under the authority of the Secretary for State for the Colonies the Government of Western Australia will shortly place on. the London market a loan of £260,000 for certain public works in this colony. Shipping. Melbourne, July 10. Arrived —Manipouri, from Bluff, last evening. The Peninsular and Oriental Company’s agent has received, 5 a telegram this morning stating that the European mails will be now conveyed through the Suez Canal by the Company’s steamers, instead of by rail from Suez to Alexandria, as in the past. The Merchant’.Shippiog and. Underwriters’ Association telegraphed from London on July 8 that the ship Lochnagar, outward bound from London to the Bluff, has been towed into Dover.
