MR GREEN ON THE LICENSING ACT.

In committee on the Act, Mr M. W. Green intends to move in the direction of giving women a vote on licensing matters. He proposes that a special roll shall be compiled containing the names of all women over the age of 21 years who have resided six months within the district. He will also propose—“ After the expiry of six years from the coming into operation of Ine Licensing Act 1881,’' section 45 of the ‘ Licensing Act, 1881,’ shall apply to all existing licenses ofc whatever kind, whether such licenses shall have been granted! under the said ‘Licensing Act, 1881,’ or, b 6 * o ?? in existence prior to that date, had been renewed from year to year, an “ n 0 publican’s, New Zealand wine, accommodation, bottle, or other license or licenses shall be granted until the ratepayers shall have previously .determined, in the manner provided m sections 46, 47, 48, and 49 of the said ‘ Licensing Act, 18.81,’ whether any such licenses shall be granted, and if a °y» then bow many.”
