Ships Nelson and Miranda, was a pronounced success. The d rtllshed was beautifully decorated, and it is estimated, that there were 650 present, including His Excellency, Lady Gordon, Miss Gordon, the Premier, and. the Chief Justice. Oamaru Steeplechases PostponedOamabc, Juno 9. Owing to the rain the Steeplechase Meeting has been postponed till Monday. The Kaitangata Relief Fund. ;: Dunedin, June 9. Mr J. L. Gillies, ns secretary to 1 the; Kaitangata Relief Fund, writes “The statements made in the House; relative to the fund being mismanaged are utterly incorrect ; not a penny has gone to any but sufferers. The character of the fund has never been altered. We cordially invite investigation.”
