(Per Press Association.) A Nice Importation from England Christchurch, Juno 5. A the Exhibition this morning, a youth named Bathiifst Noel attempted to shoot a man named Dawkins, who is in charge of a stall in the‘l World’s Fair.” Noel was seized in the act of levelling a revolver, and handed over to the police. 3 chambers of the revolver were loaded. The cause of the affair was a dispute between Noel and Dawkins respecting the price of some toys, Noel is a recent arrival from England. Licensing. Dunedin, Juno 6. There were no applications for now licenses for Dunedin South. The commissioners said tliat next year they would refuse their sanction to jail applisalions for renewals for wooden buildings, and stipulated that all hotels must have proper means of fire escape.
