The editor of the “ Citizen,” of Chicago; has settled convictions about some things, among them being Irish informers. Referring to the recent shooting in Dublin of the informer Bailey, he says : —To be shot is the death of a gentleman. To he hanged is the death of a dog. All informers are dogs. We beg pardon of the canine race. We beg pardon of tho dogs for including informers among them. Dogs never betray ; informers always do. Therefore it is unjust to tlio most faithful of the brute creation to liken them to the meanest and lowest of the human kind. In contrast with tho informers, who have made Ireland desolate and covered her with disgrace, we regard the dogs as superior beings. They were created without souls. The informers originally had souls —poor, withered, misshapen souls —but such as they were, they sold them for English money.”
