A meeting of the District Sparrow Club was to have beau held on Saturday afternoon, but owing to the Chairman (Mr Cochrane) having received no information from the various Sparrow Clubs communicated with, the meeting was further adjourned to Saturday nest, at the same time and place. Manchester, Esq., J.P., a first offender was dismissed with a caution for drunkenness, and on Monday an inebriate, who made his first appear ance, was fined ss, or in default, 24 hours imprisonment, the fine being inflicted iu the latter case, because the offence was committed on Sunday. On Friday last a robbery was committed at the drapery establishment of Mr Price in Queen street. A piece of lace of some value was taken from a table at the back of the shop. The affair has been placed in the hands of the police, who have a slight clue, so further developements may be expected. The robbery took place during business hours. The annual election of two auditors for the Borough is announced to take place on June Ist. Nominations must be sent in to the returning Officer, Mr Baxter, at the Town Clerk’s office by noon on Friday next.
