Public Notices. PROS.PBOTUS ‘ OP THE Ashburton WOOLLEN FACTORY Company (Limited.) CAPITAL—£2S,OOO, in 5000 Shares of £5 each. Ten Shillings on Application ; Ten Shil lings on Allotment; and the Balance at intervals of not less than Three Months. Provisional, Directors • Messrs E. G. Wright Messrs E. Saunders Bankers: Union Bank of Australia, Ashburton. Solicitor: B. G. Crisp. Secretary, pro tem: S. E. Poyntz. THE COMPANY is proposed to be formed for the establishment of a WOOLLEN FACTORY, for the purpose of providing a. local market for wool grown in the district, of converting the wool into manufactured goods, and of selling such goods wholesale or otherwise, The promoters have arranged for the purchase, at a reasonable price, of a suitable site with water power on the banks of the Ashburton river, about three quarter miles from the township, and arrangements have been made for the construction of a water race through the land for the purpose of working the machinery. Efficient machinery, to the value of £ISOO, has already been secured, which is capable of being worked by either steam or water power. Taking into consideration the following factsl. That Woollen goods are imported into the colony to a very large extent, on which freight and an import duty of 16| per cent have to be paid. 2. That the same quality and description of goods can be, manufactured here at less coat by using the locally produced wool. 3. That the present New Zealand factories have met with great success, but at the same time are quite inadequate to the task of supplying the increasing demand ; and i . That the proposed factory would have a great advantage in being situated in the centre of a large wool-producing district, the Provisional Directors feel that they may confidently submit this prospectus to the public. Objection might be taken to the smallness of the proposed capital as insufficient for carrying on the business on a lucrative scale, but the Provisional Directors after full consideration of the matter, believe that they have taken the wisest course as independently of other reasons they believe that after the factory is in working order, and an established fact, any capital required for a more extended business could be obtained with greater ease and readiness. As the shares have been fixed at a small amount, persons of limited means as well as capitalists, will be enabled to invest in the undertaking, which in the course of time is calculated to yield a good interest on invested capital, and at the same time establish a permanent industry in the colony, Asa large number of shares have already been applied for, early application is necessary. Prospectus and Forms of Application may bo obtained from W. E. WHITGOMBE, Broker Timaru.
