PAINFUL ACCIDENT.
The third son of Captain Mills, Harbormaster, a lad of a little over five years old, met with a painful accident on Saturday. A buggy was standing outside the lighthouse gates, which the driver had alighted to shut; and the poor little fellow climbed up by the spokes of the wheel to get in at the back of the buggy. The driver, not noticing this, got in and was driving away, when Mr Qlasson, senr., who was close at hand, managed to attract the man’s attention to the poor child, whose legs had slipped through the spokes and got jammed between them and the body of the trap, and who was screaming with agony and fear. The poor child was at once released and taken home, and attended by Drs Hogg and Macintyre. The carelessness or insensibility of the driver is un accountable. Both the little fellow’s thighs were broken, but it is hoped he will, with care, be quite restored in time.
