The ketch Lucy James, 10 days out from Lyttelton, arrived here on Saturday. She took shelter in Akaroa harbor during the early part of last week. The Duke of Sutherland was expected to have been ready for sea on Wednesday next, but owing to the heavy sea to-day little or no work has been done by the service, and she will not now be ready till later in the week. A heavier swell than has been experienced for some weeks set in last night and continued throughout to-day, the sea at times making a clean breach over the outer end of the breakwater, and slightly moving the large blocks of concrete ranged along the side. .
