An accident of rather a serious nature happened on the Otipua road, beyond Saltwater Creek, on Saturday afternoon. Mr A. Bishop was driving his.cart in from Salisbury, and on coming down thc hill on to the flat beydnd Mr Cornish’s house some calves startled the horse, and it ran the cart over tire catting. ; ' Mr Bishop escaped' with slight injury, but his little boy, who was with him, got jammed under the horse and cart, and but for the timely assistance of some passers-by he must have been crushed to death. When extricated from his perilous position he was perfectly black and unconscious. He was conveyed to the Hospital, but is now recovering.
