[By Telegraph.] ASHBURTON RACES. Ashburton, April 19. At the races to-day the weather was magnificent and the attendance was good. The following are the results of the various events : Hurdle Race of 50 so vs ; 2 miles. Why Not 1 Albion 2 Milo 3 Won easily. Nino horses started, including Quumby and Clarence.
Maiden Plate, of 30 sovs. One and a half miles. Comet 1 Trumpeter 2 Lady Florence 3 This was a good race, and won by a length. Four started. Puclicans’ Purse, of 60 so vs. Two miles Sir Modred, Bst 101 b ... 1 The Poet, 7st lib 2 Coldstream, 6st 12ib . , 3 Won easily. These were the only starters. Ladies, Purse of 25 sovs. 1|- miles. Comet ... ... ... 1 Cloud 2 The Lass 3 Won by two lengths, with something in hand.
A hack race, won by Fly, terminated the days proceedings. About £4OO passed through tho totalisator.
