MAGISTERIAL.
TIMARU—THIS DAY. [Before J. Beawick, Esq. R.M., and E. G. Stericker, Esq.] drunkenness. John and Henry Cook were charged with being drunk and disorderly, and with assualting the police. The offences being proved by the evidence of a constable and another witness, the Bench in flicted a fine on each of £1 10s for the former offence, and £1 10s for the assault on the police, or one week’s imprisonment in default in either case. FIGHTING. Patrick Clancy and John F. Sellars were charged with fighting in the public street. The latter accused, producing evidence of having been assaulted, and of having acted only in self defence, was dismissed. Clancy was fined 20s, or in' default one week’s imprisonment.
