Sale of SharesAt a sale of shares held yesterday the following prices were realised : National Mortgage, 31s ; National Insurace, 32s 6d 15s 9d ; Union, 22s 9d ; Colonial Bank, 47s 6d ; Southern Cross Petroleum, 2s 6d. Inquest. An inquest on the” body of Henry Franklin, who was found hanging on a tree at Wainui by a saddle strap attached to his neck, was held to-day. A verdict of suicide while of unsound mind was returned. Deceased and his brother were bushmen, and had breakfast together and wont to work as usual. During the morning the deceased went off by himself, and was not found till his brother, going home in the'evening, saw him hanging. Ho was quite dead. His feet were only four inches from the ground. Racing Diversions. New Plymouth, April 6. The police have obtained some
evidence respecting the tampered weight used in weighing Rand wick’s jockey at the late races. A jockey on Wednesday was seen bunging about Webster’s and McKellar’s mill for a couple of hours, and since then a weight of their scale, similar to the one used, has been missing and it has not yet been found.
