At the Magistrates Court to-day John Gilpin was committed for trial for having violently assaulted William ' Clements. The latter was going home late on Feb.’2s, when Gilpin, one of a band of larrikins, assaulted him without the slightest provocation, breaking his jaw and seriously injuring one of his : eyes.- Clements is still under medical treatment.
