The Teachers’ Association held an ordinary meeting to-day, the President in the chair. There was a discussion on the “Teachers’ position” in which, several members took part. Other routine business took place and the meeting adjourned. . The programme of sports for the trades picnic at Winchester on Monday, appears in another column. The Foresters of Court Southern Cross, No. 3123, meet on Tuesday evening next for the election of officers, and to consider the question of enlarging the hall. Mr Saunders was very funny,at Bakaia last night, and “ tickled tbe ears of the groundlings” with sketchy remarks on the members of the Cabinet. Of tbe Premier he said—at half-past ten in the' morning Mr Hall attended committee meetings, remaining until one o’clock. Before, that hour he had already set things to rights tit his own office, and at half-past two o’clock in the afternoon he was back from bis dinner, remaining in tbe House until halfpast two next morning, and then he often took a blue book to bed with him to send himself to sleep. He had nothing more to say of Mr Johnston than that he was an “ excellent entertainer of his friends at his own house,” and a very good trait too! The man who can do that is worth cultivation.
