THE EXHIBITION.

From a telegram received by Messrs Joubert and Twopenny yesterday morning, it appears that Dr Hector will fill a whole bay of the Exhibition with geological specimens. The Survey Department will cover 100 square feet of wall space with maps and plans. It is probable that Dr Lemon will • also exhibit a number of telegraphic appliances. Arrangements have been made with the Commissioner of Customs to permit the sate of small dutiable goods — jewellery, &c.—in the central avenue, parallel, with the art gallery. No sales of small articles will be permitted ;in any. other, part ,of the building. Ah officer of the Customs will be at the building this morning to receive and mark goods,' ■ Mr Joubert has established himself in a small office at the building, and there is already considerable bustle apparent. Exhibitors are now bringing goods, s and making their arrangements at their respestive bays. 1 1 ' ' It is intended to forward the Peninsula exhibits intended for the Exhibition to Lyttelton by one of the U.S.S. Co.’s steamers, leaving Akaroa about April 4th. Messrs Hawkins and Co., Lyttel; ton, have kindly consented, to give storage free for all Peninsula produce ; and Mr Chappel has, undertaken to receive the exhibits, and further, to superintend their proper disposal at the Exhibition. Great interest is being; taken in the matter by the residents in the various bays, and no doubt the Peninsula court will be worthy the rich district it represents.
