A witness, giving evidence this morning in the B.M. Court in a case of alleged sale of liquor on a Sunday, to a person other than a traveller, a very narrow escape of being committed for contempt of Court, and indicted for perjury. To the question of a learned counsel: “ Who paid for those drinks ?” the witness replied in a tone of of semi- jocular defiance, “ Pay for’em, is it ? " Sure ye did’nt pay for ’em anyhow, Yia I did sure. I pul ' vo wf ■;; alullm so l am, and he (fide----., dar ... .. :rr it, so ho can’t.” Altogether -ho Court found the witness rather troublesome, .and this,{added to the amiable expression of his countenance, made him the observed of all observers, A fact to be remembered by expectants —In making wills some are Jett out and some are left in. The Aciditity of it!—A cruel husband calls his wife !l green fruit.” because she never agrees with hid.
