HINTS TO THE GIRLS

The following rules may be of some use to young ladies who are expecting “ something real nice” from their lovers about these times :

Make your lover a small present immediately. This will give him a hint that you expect something. Got your little sister or brother to come into the parlor, and innocently tell what you said you would like to have.

Tell him what Miss Prim’s lover is going to give her, and ask him if ho don t think it’s real sweet.

Try his ring on, and show him just how much it is too large for you. Ask him if it is so, that sealskins ■ are cheaper this year than ever before. Refuse emphatically to go to the theatre with him, that you have lost one of your gloves. Tell him you saw such dear little watches at Heathcote’s, and that your pa, the mean old thing, won’t buv you one.

Tell him that necklaces arid lockets are fashionable again, and ask him how he thinks you would look in one. Hint that you were looking at a beautiful scarf pin for him. If you don’t get it he’ll think that your ma objected to your giving it to a gentleman to whom you were not engaged. If he don’t, tell him so after you corral your present. .

Ask him to guess what you are going to give him, and tell him you wont give him anything unless he guesses right. Then keep saying “No." [Notice to the young men. Pack up immediately and tell her that you must be away until after the holidays.] ‘
