Local v- General GovernmentNahep, March 2 The following resolution was passed by the Borough Council last night : “ That the Colonial secretary be informed that the Post Office and Supreme Court buildings'are encroaching on a public road, and the Council request they be removed forthwith.” One of Mr Ivess’ Journals, Wellington, March 2. The statement that +he “Cambridge Mail ” had been seized by Mr Ivess is incorrect. The paper is only handed over to his agent by mutual consent. Volunteering. The Volunteer officers’ deputation waited on the Hon. Colonial Secretary to day to ask what facilities Government would give for holding an Easter encampment. Mr Dick replied that free passe's on railways would ho granted io Volunteers attending ; cooking utensils would be furnished, and tents and other equipments to the utmost of the Government's ability, and that steamer transit for Volunteers from other places would be supplied so far as was consistent with‘the engagements of the Government steamers. The ExhibitionChristchurch, March. 2. The New Zealand entries for the International Exhibition number 154, of which 100 are fay Canterbury firms. The whole of the 120 bays set apart for New Zealand exhibits will be filled. The Wallace election petition case was concluded this morning, and the Court adjourned till 4 o’clock, when the Judges will announce whether or not they will postpone giving their decision on the cases of McKelvie and Webb. In Glynn and Ford’s cases judgment was in favor of respondent. The other two were abandoned by the petitioner.
