• (Per Press Association.) , ScullingWellington, Feb 10. It is expected that a sculling match between Messenger and Hearn will be arranged. The latter wishes the distance to be three miles and a half. Ascent of Mount Cook. Christchurch, Feb 10. The Eev, W. S. Green, with a companion and two guides, {arrived by the steamer Te Anau yesterday. After consulting Professor Von Haast they determined to proceed via Albury and the Mackenzie Country to Mount Cook. They will follow the glaciers 6 or 8 miles and then go via a spur on the fionth Hochstetter gla.der to the south ■lope of Mount Cook and try to ascend the mountain thence* -Having done this they will follow the Tasman Glacier to its origin on the south-west of Mount Darwin. They are provided with surveying and meteorological, instruments, and also photographic apparatus.
