WAI-ITI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The usual monthly meeting of the Wai-iti School Committee was held in the schoolroom on Monday evening, present—Mr H. J, Lewis (chairman), and Messrs Ogilvie, Tasker, and Hamilton. The Chairman laid on the table the statement of accounts for the previous year, which had been duly audited by Mr Wm. Granger. A fee of one guinea was passed to Mr Granger for auditing the accounts. A letter was read from Mrs Walker, tendering her resignation as mistress, and asking to be relieved from her duties on the Ist of March, on account of illhealth. It was resolved—“ That the resignation of Mrs Walker be accepted with regret, and that the Board of Education

be requested to provide a competent mistress to fill the vacancy.” Circular letters were received from the Geraldine and two other School Committees,?•« appointment of members to the Board of Education, and the receipt of these will be acknowledged. The Committee resolved to record their votes in favor of Messrs H. Belfield and J. C. McKerrow as members of the Board of Education. , The Master’s report showed the number of pupils on the roll at the end last quarter,to be 87 ;at present on the roll, 81 ; ‘attendance on opening day of present quarter, 67. Certain requisites for the school were applied for by the master, and these it was resolved to supply. It was resolved—" That the account of Mrs Lincoln for £3 16s, school cleaning, be paid, and that three months’ notice be given her of the Committee’s intention to terminate the agreement, with a view to the additional work of keeping the school grounds in order being added to such duties, the matter to bo further considered at next meeting of the Committee.” It was resolved —“ That the Chairman be requested to see the Chief Postmaster at Timaru, witli a view to the establishment of a post-office at Wai-iti, and to report at next meeting.” The meeting then terminated.
