It having been brought under the notice j of the Government that penny >■ duty stamps, when affixed to letters posted, have been refused by the Post- • office officials, arrangements have now been made so that Id postage and duty stamps may be used either for postage or on receipts. ! Found DrownedDunedin, Jan. 19. Patrick Grange, a surfaceman, was found drowned near the Cross Wharf in Dunedin harbor this morning. He had been missing since Saturday. It is supposed he fell off the jeltty at night. Massey v-Allan-The jury in the libel notion Massey v. Allan, in which plaintiff claimed £2500 damages, retired this morning, and after coming into Court and learning from the Judge that £5 would aarry costs, they gave a verdict for plaintiff for that amount. The Judge said it was tin* . most curious verdict of -all curibds verdicts he had ever heard. Union S. S- Company in Sydney. The Union Steamship Company have purchased in Sydney the wharf ? stores, and buildings formerly occupied b) r the Australian Steam Navigation Company, for £35,000.
