Mr Moss Jonas reports.as follows Horses—For Saturday’* sale about 45 horses were entered, in addition to a quantity of drays and harness, • reaping machines,The attendance, was not large, but the bulk of the lots , submitted changed hands at satisfactory prices, the principal buyers being Messrs Flaherty, J. and S. Wilson, Corkery, D. Blue, and others. He notes a little improvement in values, and quotes First-class draughts,* £25 to £3O; useful farm! horses,,- £lB to, £23; unbroken draught colts and fillies, good sorts, brought from £lB, to, £2O; hacks, from; £lO to £ls ; light, £0 to £B,, Cattle.—Prime beef may be quoted at 22e fijper lOOlbs. medium are’difficult to place at anything'above store prices He has no sales of any note to report. Sheep.—Fat sheep: The market is well supplied, and owners selling will have to submit to a reduction in prices, as, , there are a great msny prime sheep offering. Store sheep: Very little business is doing in this class of stock, considering the time of year. He expects more inquiries in a few weeks. . ,
Miscellaneous.—Property : He has to report having sold privately 57 acres of land near Wai-iti township at £25 per acre, to Mr Michael Mullins. Furniture, &c.—His sale on Thursday drew a large attendance, and resulted very satisfactorily, - biddings being brisk and fair prices obtained, Produce.,f-JElis usual sale took place on; Saturday and. the clearance of a, large quantity of farm and dairy produce, as well as a lot of miscellaneous goods was effected ■t fair market values. 1
Messrs William Collins and Co. report holding their regular weekly , auction, and market at their rooms on Saturday, 61 produce, furniture, groceries, and general sundries, The entries of produce were large, and brought the following'figures : Kidney potatoes, 6s to 7s per Cwt; onions; Bs‘6d per cwt; fowl wheat, 6s to 8s per sack; farmers’ flour, 16s per sack; oats ia;F), lssd per bushel; butter fid per lb ; hams, fid to fid ; bacon, 7Jd ; cheese, 3Jd ; honey, 3d ; fowls, 3s fid per pair ; chickens, 3s per pair; young ducks, 2s 6d per pair ; ferrets, 20s per pair ; canaries, 20 per pair ; Household furniture, boots and shoes, chinaware, and a large assortment of goods found buyers at satisfactory rates,
