riMARU—THIS DAY. (Before E. G. Kerr, Esq., J.P.) DRUNK AND DISORDERLY. Michael Reeves, previously convicted, Was discharged in consideration of his having been locked up since Saturday. George Lindsay was fined 10s or in default 48 hours imprisonment. ■ ATTEMPTING TO OVERTHROW A TRAIN. John Sullivan, a boy about 14 years of age was charged with putting stones on the Great Southern Railways with intent to endanger the lives of persons travelling by train. Inspector Pender said the police were not prepared to go on with the case at present as one of the witnesses was out of town. His Worship remanded the prisoner till Wednesday next at eleven o’clock, and instructed the police to see that the lad was kept away from the other prisoners in the gaol. LARCENY. William Henry Tubb, arrested in Wellington on warrant charging him with the larceny of £IOO, the property of Tubb and Targuse, of which firm the accused was a partner, was brought np in custody, • Inspector Pender asked for a remand till Wednesday. , The prisoner, in reply to the Bench, said he should « like to be allowed bail. His Worship saw no reason why bail should not be granted, and asked what the police had to say to the application. Inspector Pender said the police had no objection to offer. £3O bad been found on the prisoner, and since his arrest prisoner’s wife had handed the balance of the claim—£7o—to the police.

Bail was fixed in two sureties bf £SO each, or one substantial surety of £IOO, and the prisoner was remanded till Wednesday at 11 a. ra.
