COSTUME OF A BLACKFOOT BELLE.
The upper portion of her face, including forehead, eyes',/affd checks, was painted in bright chrome yellow ; the lower’ portion of her‘fate was scarlet. She ' wore a : scarletblanket thrown loosely over her Bhoulders, ahd under this was a long loose blouse, made but of a dark,' heavy blue blanket, and' trimmed with' pipings of scarlet and white. This blouse was fastened to the waist with a leather belt fully eight inches broad, and literally covered with large bosses: of polished -brass. - On her -neck was a string of bfass beads as, large as cherries. One of her bracelets consisted of a coil of heavy brass wire that would weigh not less than a pound and a half, while this other,, which was nearly the same weight, tfris Boride 5 of large, brass, beads. Several of her fingers were nearly covered with coils of brass wire and. beads. It .was late in the afternoon when we reached Blackfooii crossing. We drove through a beautiful country all made up of rich land, with the exception of one natro# sand ridge, arid reached our present camp after dark, having enjoyed a splendid view of the Rooky Mountains at sunset.—“ Toronto Globe.”
