(Per Pbess Association.) The Royal Prerogative. New Plymouth, Dec. 29. Mr Parris has received a letter signed “King Tawahio,” requesting him not to listen to any of the proposals to have a Land Court at Mokau, as he is opposed to it. At the FrontPungaeehu, Dec. 29. The Okato station was broken up yesterday, and not one man left behind. Theywere all transferred here. The men are still continuing the work of devastion among the crops. About 600 acres are now destroyed. Some men to-day have taken sacks with them to be filled with potatoes for different company messes. Death of Mr HellishChristchurch, Dec. 28. Mr G. L. Mellisb, Resident Magistrate at Christchurch, died at 4 o clock this morning. He had been ill for some time. Schooner Missing. The schooner Elizabeth Conway is ashore at Cape Campbell, and is fast breaking up. No lives were lost. Employment of ChildrenDunedin, Dec 29. _ In a case in which the police sued \. Wilhelmsen for employing a boy after 2 p.m. on Saturday, the Bench held that dusting boots was not employment within the meaning of the Act. The police were also unsuccessful in a case of Sunday trading.
