[Eeutek’h Agency.) Sir H- Parkes’ FarewellSydney, Dec. 13. In the Legislative Assembly last night, Sir Henry Perkes, Premier, made a lengthy statement regarding his approaching visit to England. He stated that he undertook the same solely on account of ill-health, but that while in America he would interview the United States Government, and endeavor to obtain free admission of Australian wool to America. All the colonial Governments, except Victoria had authorised him to act on their behalf in this mutter. Sir Henry further announced that he would, acting in concert with !Mew Zealand, do his utmost to obtain an American contribu tion towards the subsidy for the San Francisco mail service. While in Lon he iatonde d to rearrange the system

of emigration to Now South Wales. Parliament would be prorogued between February and June, and in the latter month he expected to return to the colonj. In bis absence, his duties would be performed by bis colleagues, and bis journey would cost the colony nothing.

Melbouenb, Dec. 16. Stonewalling in VictoriaGreat opposition has of late been shown in the Legislative Assembly to the policy of Government, and a number of the Opposition have now adopted a course of deliberate obstruction and stonewalling, with a view to prevent the passage of the Bills which Govern ment are endeavoring to press forward before the prorogation at Christmas. It is expected that in consequence of the tactics of the Opposition the Harbor Trust Bill will be abandoned.
