MR GIBSON AND THE “TIMARU HERALD.”
[to the editoh.] Sir, —Mr J. S. Gibson, one of the candidates for the representation of Tiinaru, at a public meeting-, at the theatre, and likewise at his hustings speech, stated that he was not the nominee of the “ Tiinaru Herald.” If such is not the case I should like to know why he lias not contradicted the statement made in your leader of Friday, the 2nd inst. viz. :—that the Herald ” people would run him if he would offer himself fur election. Will Mr Gibson reply to this to-morrow morning, or will he allow the electors to go to the poll believing- that a candidate who professes to be independent and who asks for their confidence has told them a lie to suit the purposes of the “ Tiinaru Herald.” A RESIDENT FOR 18 YEARS.
