The barque Pacific Slope, 799 tons, left Newcastle for Timaru on Nov 19. The barque Candidate, for Timaru, from London tin Nelson, may be early expected here, she having arrived at Nelson yesterday. The Foresters and Oddfellows intend to amalgamate on Boxing Day to hold a sport’s meeting in Green’s paddock, and some good amusement is promised. Wrestling, archery, an obstruction race, and a babj show are among the attractions promised. Nominations for the various sports, &c., can be made on any intervening Saturday at the Foresters’ Hall, from 2 to 4 in the afternoon. Electors of Gladstone residing or engaged during the day in Timaru will be able to go to the Washdyke to record their votes with but little inconvenience, as Mr F. Watson intends to run his expresses to and fro during the election day.

ANEW Time Table comes into force on the 12th inst., in which the following alterations in starting times of trains for and from Timaru are made : Timaru to Ashburton. 7.35 a.m. altered to 7.30 a.m, Ashburton to Timaru : 0.35 a.m,, 10,36 а. (express), 4,50 p.m,, altered to б. a.m., 10.32 a.m. (express), and 4.45 p.m, Timaru to Oamaru iJJI.IO p.m. (express) altered to 1 p.m. This train leaves St. Andrews 10 minutes, Makikihi 15 minutes, Studholme Junction 16 minutes earlier than at present. Oamaru to Timaru : 12.32 p.m. (express) altered to 12.53 p.m. This train jeaves Studholme junction 18 minutes, Makikihi 13 minutes, and St. Andrews 7 minutes later than at present.
