Mr W. Hoskins, the well-known actor, was married to Miss Maud Douglass, a member of the Pomeroy Company, on Sunday. Mr Hoskins was so ill at the time that he had to be lifted out of bis bed and carried back again. The marriage was celebrated privately, only a few friends being present. The New Zealand Fire Insurance Company have handed the Ashburton Fire Brigade a cheque for £2O in recognition of their services at the recent fire.
