(Per s.B. Arawata at the Bluff.) Melbourne, Nov. 30. The Crown has commenced proceedings against two well-known promotors of race sweeps. G. P. Marrick, secretary of the Shire of Marong, has levanted. Criminal proceedings will be instituted against him. Two girls, aged 14, were drowned in the Oampaspe river bathing. The Court found him guily of both charges, and sentenced him to two years, and then to be dismissed the service.
